This is a commissioned story.

Luna shifted around as she wondered what to do.  It was the middle of the day, but it was still so dark at how deep they were in the ocean.  She glanced around, her hair floating and shifting with the pulls of her head, looking towards Hujo.  "Hujo!" she called out, smiling a bit and waving as she began to swim over to him.  The merman blushed a bit, but blinked a few times as Luna squeaked and was pulled away by a few friends.  "Come on, Luna!" one of them whined, "Lets go do something!"

Luna waved to Hujo sadly and called, "I'll talk to you later," and the merman only nodded and looked down after giving a small wave.  Luna was dragged away by her friends, something that she was not happy to have been part of because she wished that she and Hujo could play a game, maybe just talk and swim around.

Luna squeaked when her tail was pinched, her mind having wandered and causing her to zone out.  "What was that for?" she asked them.  "You zoned out again," said one of them in an exasperated tone, obviously unhappy with her.  Luna looked down and muttered, "I'm sorry..." folding her arms a bit and giving a small pout.

"Why were you going to hang out with him anyways?" asked another, knowing that Hujo was one of the few mermen or maids with few friends and didn't really hang around people.  "You sound disgusted!  Hujo is my friend!" she said back, folding her arms a bit tighter and huffing.  "Then go play with the loner," said the third, shoving her back a bit and causing another squeak to erupt from her.

The yellow-haired mermaid shivered a bit and looked down.  "Fine!  I will!  And he isn't a loner!" she turned and flicked her tail at them, beginning to swim away.  She called out, "Hujo!" going back to the spot that she had seen him before.  She frowned when he wasn't there, giving a soft sigh as she wondered where he could have gone.  It wasn't really like him to leave somewhere that he liked being, and that was one spot she sat him most.

"Luna?" asked Hujo as he could hear his name being called.  His voice was smooth, and he adjusted his brown hair, flipping his tail and swimming back to where she was, "H-Hey."  Luna giggled and said, "There you are!  I'm really sorry, my friends were being really mean and saying bad stuff about you.  So I wanted to come back and play with you instead!"

Hujo gave a soft smile and nodded back at her.  How he liked her so much.  The flowing yellow hair, shaping her body nicely, and the bright and happy green tail.  He loved her smile the best though.  It always brought him happiness, even in the darkest of times.  "Thank you, Luna," he finally spoke after a long pause.

Luna only giggled and nodded, asking, "So what should we play?" her head tilting curiously.

Hujo smiled and said, "Tag," pausing and poking her arm, "You're it."  He chuckled and turned, beginning to swim off.  "Hey!" Luna shouted back, "No fair!  You got a head start!"  The brown-tailed, brunette merman was always more upbeat around Luna, even though he could be a bit shy when they got close to one another.  Hujo looked back at her, only to see her catching up.  "You're it!" she said as she grasped the bottom of his tail, abruptly spinning herself and darting off.

Hujo said, "I'll get you!" turning and trying to catch her.  Little did Luna know that when she turned to look to see how close he was, he was shouting her name urgently, not playfully.  "Luna!" he shouted again.  "You're not going to-" Luna was cut off as she collided with a rocky wall.  At the speed she was going, her arm scraped against the rocks, causing bloodshed and a painful cry from the salty water.  "Luna!" Hujo cried out, hurrying over and gasping, "Luna... a-are you okay?"  Of course she wasn't okay, you loon! he told himeslf, This is all my fault!

Luna curled herself against Hujo and he blushed.  This wasn't the time.  He carefully wrapped his arms around her and began to swim off to find her some help.  As the wound was stung by the salt concentration of the water, Luna felt her eyes drooping.

When she awoke, she found herself lying in a bed with her arm bandaged.  Hujo was sitting in a chair, fiddling with his hands and waiting for her to awaken.  "Hujo...?" she asked softly, not understanding what happened.  Hujo jumped at her voice and looked back at her and said, "L-Luna!  You're awake... a-are you feeling okay?"  Luna said, "I don't know... What... happened?"  Hujo said, "We were playing tag and you ran into a rock and scraped your arm..." scratching the back of his head nervously.

"Did you... bring me back here...?" asked Luna softly, only to receive a nod from the shy merman.

Luna's lips formed a small smile and said, "That's so sweet... thank you."  Hujo nodded and muttered, "It's nothing, really.  It would be only natural of me to do so..."

She seemed a bit confused by that and asked, "What do you mean?"

Hujo bit his lip.  It was now or never.  He said, looking down, "Well... I... love you... Luna..." his face flushing a bright red after that, as Luna's turned a tint of her own.  Though, because of his shyness, he was unable to do anything.  Luna did something though.  She leaned over and gently kissed him, whispering softly, "Thank you, Hujo... I love you too..."
